Some paintings and drawings from 2025 so far
And some quick sketches too…
Some goodies from 2024, having just realised it’s June already!
And yes, it’s the usual mix of quick sketches with waterbrush through to oil on canvas…
Some goodies from 2023
Actually, the charcoal (A2 paper), especially for ancient anthropologist was very interesting, not least because of the speed with which it’s possible to get something meaningful. I work fast with oil, but this is crazy-quick!
Once again, I’ve painted a lot of portraits on canvas paper (using oils), and these have been life size (or above), and alla prima (rather than patiently glazed). Of course, there are a couple of landscapes, too. Looking at just how many portraits I actually do, I’ve just renamed the site banner to say Landscape and Portrait Artist.
These are from 2022, too
This was the year my portraiture took off, and coincided with a switch to oil paints, too. My home studio space proved invaluable during Covid-lockdown-itis in the UK
Included here are some of first (serious) attempts at portraits …although in watercolour!
