There was/is quite an eclectic mix at The Higgins in Bedford, but the thing which stayed with me after this particular visit was a reproduction of A Portrait of the Artist as Shadow of His Former Self by Kerry James Marshall , which felt deliciously subversive (the original is at Los Angeles County Museum of Modern Art I think, although maybe it’s in Chicago, now?) as part of singer Peter Brathwaite’s recreation of famous artworks–a thing he says he did during COVID lockdown in the UK.

It therefore feels fitting for me to include something of what I did during the same time, learning about painting portraits… so, this is my quick sketch of Peter Brathwaite
