One of the most moving pieces was the small baby in the main courtyard; I almost wanted to pick it up with a “What are you doing there?”
I had a sort of aha moment on the way to the RA, when it occurred to me how trivial and inconsequent smartphones and their virtual take on the world were compared to the actual real things on Piccadilly–the magnificent buildings–so maybe I was already especially primed to enjoy Antony Gormley’s 3D things. Of course, these photos were all taken on a smartphone…
As well as the power of the sculptures, Antony Gormley’s notebooks including his manifesto were very profound:
I am an artist…
As well as these photos I was motivated to buy the book Antony Gormley on Sculpture. And my faith and optimism in humanity was somewhat restored.
Thank you RA
Thank you Antony Gormley
