Painting Figures, Week 2

05 Mar 2021

Previous painting was golden–this week’s is much cooler. And also a high-key painting i.e. very light.

Tonal values can be more clearly seen by rendering subject image in black and white

Kim English doesn’t use pure white for lights, so be very sparing with the white, even when attempting to make lighter!

Different way of drawing today: a brush! (2 filbert, hog)

Base colour sets a tone or atmosphere

Palette

  • Titanium White
  • Cobalt Blue
  • Viridian Green

Draw the easiest things to see (horizon), and use how-many-heads-high for figure dimensions
